They’re town criers in the age of Twitter: A growing group of L.A.-area residents share a passion for listening to police scanners and spreading that news online, in real time, via Twitter. “It’s like theater,” one says.

Not so personal note: I don’t pin. I tumble.

coffeetvfilm:

Good Evening fellow Tumblrs,

I am no stranger to curating content.  I wanted to tell you all about my other tumblrs. Although I adopted a no need to explain motto earlier this year, I will go on to explain that apart from my day-to-day pitching, writing, and raising awareness and capital, I tumble quite frequently.

Why?

Mostly for my own need to archive content for research and trend purposes and because of the shared content value. I try to upload information I come across my data base of industry blogs and websites. I also reblog content regularly.

So, if you are so kind and keen on:

Earth, the living planet, animals, nature, sustainability, nutrition, neuroscience, space, healthy eating, humanity please visit:  DIGITAL OCEAN

If you are a creative, ambitious Angeleno, love coffee, into TV programming, Film, documentary film, Hollywood, please visit and follow: COFFEETVFILM

I use DIGITAL BIN as my catch-all tumblr and mini blog posts. Hopefully in a few more months my permanent website will be live and I will be ready to share parts of my project. (excited to finally reveal what is up!)

Thanks again for the follows and mentions friends and fellow tumblrs,

Farida :)

PS:

you can catch me on FLICKR and @ too.

The foundation paid to bring Aisha to Los Angeles, found a host family for her to stay with and is funding her treatment, Grossman said.
That could include a prosthetic nose or reconstruction of her nose and ears using bone, tissue and cartilage from the rest of her body, he said.
“What I’d love to be able to do with Aisha is to give her a permanent solution,” said Grossman, who said he planned to meet with her in coming days.
Women for Afghan Women, a nonprofit group based in Fresh Meadows, N.Y., has been using Aisha’s case to illustrate what is at stake for Afghan women if international forces leave the country.
The group runs a shelter that cared for Aisha for nearly a year, according to a statement posted on their website by Executive Director Manizha Naderi. “Bibi Aisha decided to put her damaged face before the world to show what ordeals, and worse, millions of women and girls in Afghanistan will suffer if the Taliban take over the country,” Naderi wrote.
“Bibi herself wants her suffering to have meaning beyond her personal pain. She has never been to school and may never have heard the term ‘human rights,’ but she wanted to reveal her wounds to the world because she fully understands what the Taliban mean for women.” (via Mutilated Afghan girl comes to L.A. for treatment - latimes.com

While big companies and their leaders have historically helped out their hometowns in a pinch, out of benevolence or for bragging rights, Hollywood has been playing a relatively minor role in the civic life of Los Angeles, preferring national and international charities, say political leaders and many who care for those in need in the city. “You might even call it an exodus,” said Peter Douglas, the president of a Los Angeles-oriented foundation, started by his parents, Kirk and Anne Douglas, referring to Hollywood’s tendency to look past the locals.

L.A. is one of those towns that everyone loves to brunch. In the City of Angels, there is no shortage of citizens without the 9-5 grind and time to meet up with amigos at 11 a.m. or even 1 p.m. for some lengthy noshing and chit chatting. There are a number of good brunch picks for those in the Los Angeles area. One spot that you will be sure to find a swarm of hipsters and eye candy wanna be actors/models lining the streets for the next available table is Toast on West 3rd Street. Although the fire is dangerously close, we are fully staffed and prepared to care for our more than 400 animals and our sanctuary built more than 33 years ago.
